Hi! I’m Destiny Snyder, a small town Ohio girl who moved to Florida without much of a plan—and ended up falling completely in love with St. Pete. I’m now a full-time travel blogger and content creator (Guided by Destiny), and I get to spend my days sharing my favorite places to eat, stay, and explore—both locally and around the world!
What's your name and how many years have you been in St Pete?
Hi! I’m Destiny and I moved to St. Pete in January 2017, so it's been a little over 8 years now!
What do you do for work and for fun?
I’m lucky enough that what I do for work is also what I love doing for fun! As a full-time travel blogger and content creator, I spend my time exploring new places, finding the best eats, stays, and experiences, and sharing it all to help others plan their trips more easily. I truly feel like I’m living my dream, getting to combine my love for adventure, storytelling, and connecting with people every single day!
What would your perfect day in St. Pete consist of?
My perfect day in St. Pete starts with grabbing a coffee and some coffee cake from Grove, Surf, & Coffee (crossing my fingers they reopen soon!). Then I’d swing by the Corey Avenue Sunday Market before heading to the beach with a Cool Ranch Rider from Gateway Subs in hand—Coconut Charlies is one of my favorite beach spots. After freshening up, I’d head downtown to walk the pier and catch sunset, then finish the day with dinner and drinks at Perry’s Porch!
How about your perfect date night?
Lately I’ve been more of a day date person, and I love biking around downtown and popping into different breweries, cafes, and restaurants. There’s something so fun about hopping around and discovering new spots together. Plus, I’m a big fan of murals and street art, so that adds a fun twist. 3 Daughters is always at the top of my list—they’ve got games, great drinks, and it’s just a really good time.
What's a hidden gem - a drink, a meal, a place or an experience in DTSP that many may not know about?
I feel like In Between Days doesn’t get nearly enough hype—it’s such a cool, intimate spot with incredible food and one of the best drinks I’ve ever had: the ube piña colada. Experience-wise, the Imagine Museum totally surprised me! I’m not usually a big museum girl, but the contemporary glass art and all the unique pieces really blew me away.
One thing you still want to see in DTSP?
Honestly, I feel like there’s always something new popping up in St. Pete, so I’m constantly adding to my list! St. Pete is really growing its foodie scene lately—there are still so many restaurants on my ever-growing list. And I’ve been dying to check out the Shell Key Preserve clear kayak tours. Plus, there are always fun events popping up, from foodie festivals to live music. One thing about St. Pete—it’ll definitely keep you on your toes, and you’ll never be bored!
What gets you out of bed every day?
Every day looks a little different for me, but whether I’m checking out a fun new spot or just spending the day writing blog posts and sharing content from a recent trip, I truly love what I do. That excitement and passion for creating and connecting with others is what gets me out of bed—even on the slower days. I’m just so grateful to wake up and do something I genuinely enjoy, and live in a beautiful place while doing it!
